GGR for 1Q of 2025 reaches €398 million with strong y-o-y growth in casino and active accounts

(Madrid).- Online gaming in Spain recorded a 13.68% year-over-year growth in GGR, driven by a 20.64% increase in casinos and a 30.82% rise in active accounts. However, it fell by 2.68% compared to the previous quarter.

GGR for 1Q of 2025 reaches €398 million with strong y-o-y growth in casino and active accounts

The online gaming market in Spain closed the first quarter of 2025 with a GGR (Gross Gaming Revenue) of €398.11 million , representing a 2.68% drop compared to the last quarter of 2024, but a 13.68% growth compared to the same period last year.

Key metrics included deposits , which increased by 8.13% quarter-over-quarter and 23.85% year-over-year , and withdrawals , which grew by 10.64% and 29.38% , respectively. Marketing spending also increased (+1.74% quarter-over-quarter, +43.97% year-over-year), as did new accounts, which grew by 14.39% quarter-over-quarter and 38.05% year-over-year .

Distribution of GGR by segments:

Casinos lead the way with €203.06 million (51.01%), representing an annual growth of 20.64%. Slot machines drove this growth, up 42.06% year-over-year.

Betting generated €165.90 million (41.67%), with a decrease of -6.35% compared to the previous quarter, although with a year-on-year growth of 11.17%.

Poker fell by -0.11% quarterly and -10.31% annually, particularly affected by the drop in cash poker (-19.81% annually).

Bingo contributed €3.63M (0.91%) with a slight quarterly increase of 4.23%, but a decrease of -13.47% compared to 2024.

Competitions continue with residual figures.

Marketing and user activity:

Marketing spending reached €164.86 million , with notable increases in sponsorship (+60.33% quarter-on-quarter, +238.67% year-on-year) and promotions (+14.70% and +58.32%). The monthly average number of active accounts rose to 1,748,252 users , up 12.63% quarter-on-quarter and +30.82% year-on-year.

In the quarter, 64 of the 77 licensed operators had at least one active singular license, with the casino (52 operators) and betting (41 operators) segments being the most prominent .
